Last Years
In his last years Victor decided to live in exile after Napoleon's III's coup d'état. He moved around constantly until finally returning to France for the last few years before he died on May 22nd 1885. He was a very amazing man who left his mark on the world. He had started writing when he was thirteen and even then he had won many awards. His position had enhanced with the success of his play "Hernani" which was subject to controversy symbolizing as it did the conflict between romantic ideas and classical French theaters. In the 1820s he became one of the leading figures of the French Romantic Movement. He left behind amazing pieces of writings which are still well known today one of his famous being Les Miserables.
